Dealer bust odds.
How often the dealer busts, and where they end up, for each up-card. It's the reason you play hands of 12 to 16 so differently against a 6 and against a 10.

Chances of the dealer's final total from each up-card, with 6 decks. Against a 10 or an ace, the dealer has already checked for blackjack (so these rows leave it out). A 5 or a 6 busts over 40% of the time; a 7 or higher usually makes 17 or more.

- A 5 or a 6: the dealer busts about 42% of the time. That's why you stand on 12 to 16 against them and double more.
- What is the dealer's overall bust rate?
- About 28% of all hands, across every up-card.
- Why does an ace bust so rarely?
- An ace can count as 11 or 1, so the dealer often makes a soft total and gets another chance. Against an ace the dealer busts only about 17% of the time after checking for blackjack.
